How to Generate Motion Graphics Videos with Claude

Write a prompt, and Claude designs, animates, scores and renders a finished MP4. No video editor, no stock footage, no music library.

You write a prompt. Claude designs, animates, scores and renders the video, then hands you back an MP4.

No video editor, no stock footage, no music library. All of it happens inside a regular Claude chat.

What you need

  • Claude with Code Execution and File Creation turned on, in Settings. This gives Claude a sandbox computer where it builds and renders the video.
  • Your brand assets, if the video is about you. Logos, photos, colours and fonts. Claude’s sandbox cannot browse most websites directly, so either upload the files to the chat or connect Claude in Chrome so it can read your site and pull the assets for you.

How it works under the hood

  1. Claude designs the animation as a web page (HTML, CSS and JavaScript) where every element’s position, size and colour is calculated from the frame number.
  2. A headless Chrome browser steps through every frame and screenshots it. A 20 second video at 60fps is 1,200 frames.
  3. ffmpeg stitches the frames into an MP4.
  4. Claude composes the soundtrack in code (drums, bass, pads, whooshes, impacts) on the same timeline as the animation, so every transition lands exactly on a beat.

Example 1: an open-ended showreel

Make a dynamic 15 second motion graphics video that shows what an incredible motion designer you are, like it’s your showreel for a resume. Go all out.

What it produced: a 15 second, 1920×1080, 60fps showreel with Claude’s own concept, palette and synthesised soundtrack.

Why it works: it is 27 words and sets only three things: the length, the purpose (a showreel), and the ambition (“go all out”). Everything else is left open, so Claude makes every creative decision itself. Use this style when you want to see what is possible rather than get something specific.

Example 2: a brand video built from a website

Okay now create a sleek motion design and animated infographics combination video that represents my website through with mythic, topography, graphic transitions. Keep the color theme the same as my website. Use all assets from website. Do not show the pricing and packages. Just represent me as who I am. I’m looking for a dynamic 20 second motion graphics video that shows what an incredible motion designer you are. Go all out. Just amaze me.

Do not add any small text or lines in the borders showing size or anything extra. It must look like an official video of the website and no other things. Also this time the video should be in a vertical style for Instagram Reels.

This is my website https://milleemd.com/

What it produced: a 20 second, 1080×1920, 60fps vertical Reel. Claude pulled the site’s exact colours and fonts plus every image on the page (portrait, studio and stage photos, FYP Lab logo, partner logos) and built six sections: a logo intro, a kinetic type manifesto, the portrait reveal, an animated stats dashboard, a scroll through projects, guides and partnerships, and an end card.

Why it works: it gives Claude a source of truth (the website), hard brand rules (same colours, same assets), clear exclusions (no pricing, no extra border text), and a format (vertical for Reels). “Mythic, topography” was voice dictation for kinetic typography, and Claude interpreted it correctly, but typing the exact style term gets you there more reliably.

Writing your own prompt

Cover these six things and you will get a strong first render:

  1. Length: 15 to 20 seconds is the sweet spot. Longer means longer render times.
  2. Format: vertical 9:16 for Reels and TikTok, horizontal 16:9 for YouTube or a portfolio.
  3. Source: a website, uploaded photos, a logo, or nothing at all.
  4. Style: name the techniques you want, like kinetic typography, animated infographics, particles, or halftone.
  5. Rules and exclusions: colours to match, things to leave out, no extra on-screen text.
  6. Ambition: “go all out” genuinely changes the output. Claude aims higher when you ask it to.
Create a [length] second [vertical/horizontal] motion graphics video about [subject]. Use [kinetic typography / animated infographics / particles] with graphic transitions. Keep the colors and fonts from [website or brand]. Use [assets]. Do not show [exclusions]. Add a soundtrack synced to the transitions. Go all out.

Tips

  • Plan for a render wait. A 20 second video at 60fps takes roughly 8 to 10 minutes to render. Ask for 30fps if you want it faster.
  • Give feedback by timestamp. “At 0:07 the text is too small” gets fixed precisely, while “make it better” gets a guess.
  • Know the limits. Claude can animate your photos with effects (particles, halftone, cutouts) but cannot make people in them move or lip-sync. Soundtracks are synthesised electronic music, so bring your own audio file if you want real instruments or vocals. Claude will not reproduce copyrighted characters or logos you do not own.
